ANV Gen 3+ (aka Gen 4) NVG have a wide range of applications, such as:

Night vision ‘sees’ light that is reflected from the surface of objects enabling clear identification of animals, structures and people. Whilst thermal imaging is superior for rapid detection, it cannot differentiate between objects with a similar temperature, especially after rain and late at night when the surface temperature has equalised.

Night vision is usable through glass, making it the best choice for navigating boats. The auto-gated tube maintains image quality even in the presence of other light sources, such as boats, navigation beacons, street lights and car headlamps.

These devices are only available to Coastguard New Zealand, Search and Rescue groups, education and research.

Due to our international licensing, ANV Gen3 NV optics cannot be exported outside of New Zealand.

Ultra operational features

The ANV Ultra designation refers to the operational characteristics of the device. Ultra models have the following common features:

White phosphor screen produces a high definition black and white image with exceptional contrast characteristics.
Auto-gated power supply important for maintaining clear vision in the presence of external light sources, street lights, car headlights, boat lights and navigation beacons etc.
Vertical auto shut-off with override, turns off the unit when in the up position.
Manual gain control allows user to finely adjust image brightness.
In-built IR illuminator with ‘on’ indicator, for use in the absence of any light.
Powered by 1x AA battery with low battery warning.
IP67 fully waterproof body nitrogen purged and hermetically sealed.

Optional 3x and 5x lenses are available for outstanding long-range performance, ideal for object identification and spotting faint light sources at extreme distance.

* FoM (Figure of Merit) is a key performance indicator set by the US military. FoM is calculated by multiplying resolution by signal-to-noise ratio (RxSNR) of the tube. A high FoM delivers better image quality especially in extremely low light because when the gain is increased there is less noise. In conditions where there is sufficient ambient light, starlight, partial moonlight etc, a high FoM is less important.
